The migration to Joomla.
Friends of the Garden,
Gori’s Garden was born in the early 1440s AH (late 2010s AD), first as a WordPress.com free blog, which is still secretly hosted somewhere on the vast Internet.
Then came the year of gorisgarden.com, using the full WordPress.org CMS.
The third stage of gorisgarden has now come, as a migration to the Joomla CMS is underway.
Why was Joomla chosen ?
Because Gori never used any plugins in WordPress, except for the bare minimum. You might know that Joomla come bundled with many functionalities that, in WordPress, need to be installed as a plugin, and thus, the core Joomla CMS will suffice for most of GorisGarden’s need.
Joomla is also more advanced, in the sense that customization is done, mostly, but not exclusively, using the user.css file. While it is possible to do so in WordPress, Joomla features a more straightforward access to stylesheet files as well as to .php files.
Using a site-wide user.css for most elements allows for cleaner code and less redundancy.
The Cassiopeia basic template is also more adapted to Gorisgarden. The Garden started out as a mysterious blog, but as content expands, the need for a better framework starts to show, while WordPress was good in the beginning, Gorisgarden now needs a larger structure as it is evolving to a multimedia website.
Friends, all this technical jargon might be baffling to you, so Gori will now speak the language of artists. You should know that the evolution of the website will allow for more freedom of form, which is essential for the artist. It will also organize the information in a clearer way.
All of this serves one purpose, to glorify the God.
