Wizardry Daphne is the real successor to Wizardry, one of the oldest game series out there... Critics can say it betrayed some elements of the original entries, but remember that ever since Wizardry IV in 1987, the devs have been trying to innovate and change the formula, and people in charge have changed many times.
Anyway, in Daphne, I can tell you the spirit of Wizardry is here. You wander in those cold lonely dungeons for days and weeks, with barley a soul to talk to, except for the odd goblin or soldier lost in there, and even then, they don't really care about you...
Of course Daphne is a bit different than Wiz 1 or Wiz 6, but still the essence is here : the labyrinth, danger lurking, and adventurers who are only momentary companions, who one day will have to tragically leave you...
