Lately Gori has been wandering in Wizardry 7...
Gori in the dark dungeon
What's so special about this game ? After all it is stuck in windowed mode in 800*600... But still there is something in the game that sucks you in and you just don't want to go...
This night Gori had a dream of being in Wizardry 7. An unforgiving nightmarish dungeon in the middle of nowhere. Yet he cannot say that this was a nightmare, just a dream that is both scary and sweet...
Aren't we just momentary travelers in this existence ?
Maybe it's the fact that the game is so calm, and meditative. There is no fancy sprite like in newer games (the narrator tell you that you are in a library and you need to imagine the books for example.), and not much background music, but still it is immersive.
And from time to time, the narrator takes us into some kind of meditative monologue about life and existence, what it means to be alive.
Each step you take in the game can be your last, yet the atmosphere is not so heavy like other "Hardcore" games, it is just what it is, a game where you can die by opening a door, and it doesn't make much fuss about it.
Kill those perverts
It's also an open-world game, and hard to navigate because it's a first-person view and grid-based game at the same time, enemies randomly appear nearly everywhere, and I still didn't find how to use a map, but still it's nice, it's a game where you take your time and just think and try to figure out things.
If you have time and patience, it's surely worth it to play without a walkthrough, it's always nice to get lost in 800*600.
Don't start what you cannot finish, or really ?
